(Preposition)DOWN(MISCELLANEOUS)

BOMB ALONG/DOWN:to move or drive very quickly. the car was bombing
down the narrow street.
JUMP OUT/DOWN: to drop oneself from height. She jumped out of the window.
HURRY ALONG/DOWN:to do something very quickly. i had to hurry down the stairs.
LEAD DOWN/UP:to take a person to a place etc. the terrorist was led
down to a vehicle.
LASH AGAINST/DOWN/ACROSS:to hit violently. the waves lashed against the rocks.
LODGE IN/DOWN:become firmly stuck. a fish bone lodged down his thigh.
LOOK DOWN ON/UPON:regard others as inferiors or insignificant. there
was time when the english looked down upon anything indian.
MINCE ACROSS/DOWN/ALONG:to walk in an unnatural fashion, taking short
steps and moving hips. the lady was found minicing across the street.
NAIL TO/DOWN/TOGETHER :fasten two things with a nail. he nailed his
nameplete to the door.
NIP IN/DOWN/OUT: to go quickly for a short time to some place. He
nippled down to the nearby market.
PASS ALONG/DOWN:move along. please pass along the passage.
PERCOLATE DOWN/THROUGH:pass  through a material that has very tiny

SHELVE DOWN/UP/TOWARDS:slope gently towards. the steps shelve down to
the lake,the garden shelves towards the sea.

SHUFFLE ALONG/DOWN/TOWARDS:to walk slowly and noisily.the beggar
shuffled along the street.
SNAKE ALONG/DOWN:move in long winding curves. the river snaked down the valley.
